Photos on Friday: The National Numismatic Collection at the Smithsonian

As I've noted in other blog posts, the museums in the Washington D.C. region are awesome. From the large museums located downtown to lesser-known museums located in and outside the Beltway in Northern Virginia (such as the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary and the Fauquier History Museum to name just two). Truly, there is a lot to see.

The biggest museums are primarily located downtown. One exhibit I find fascinating is the National Numismatic Collection located at the National Museum of American History. I'll let the photos speak for themselves (this is really only a small sampling. The room itself is not large, but there is a lot of interesting history housed within these four walls.

To see what is currently on display in this exhibit, more information can be gotten from the museum's website).

I didn't manage to capture all the objects in this particular display, but from the descriptions you can see how diverse the collection is at the American History Museum.
